Had a feint/dummy which opponents couldn't read.

Fast forward to 0.37 for a bit of Brooking genius.

Re: Sir Trevor Brooking
i played a one two with the great man and scored during a specially arranged training session - a treat for our 2nd year school team (won the league, runners up in the cup) - loxford school, circa 1981 iirc...happy days.

Re: Sir Trevor Brooking
Crassus, think you forgot to mention that the match was played on a mudbath, whilst Brooking glides around the pitch effortlessly, completely balanced whilst everyone else is slip sliding.

The bloke is GOD to me.

Yep. I have met Sir Trevor a few times over the years and can say, without reservation, he is a true gent - never met/read a single person say otherwise

I also watched him play and as Cough says was none to impressed initially, Dad said he was a player. A slow burn, it must have been mid twenties before he showed, then how he showed

Genius passer, silky on the ball and a finish

Just check out Eintracht at home - best game ever at UP, Sir Trev imperious - against a side akin to Dortmund today

And? Zidane was very good but no Maradona.
What relevance to thread? we are talking about one of probably 3 or 4 players that west ham actually meant something to them.

Brooking was very good but he was no Zidane, that bloke was an out and out genius

Re: Sir Trevor Brooking
STB and Dev are two true legends who never played up to leave when they easily could have gone down the PDC/Dicks route.
True legend of the club.

Re: Sir Trevor Brooking
A bit of a clichÄ— this, but the guy is pure class.

Was lucky enough to be around in the late 70s / early 80s so watched west ham teams with Brooking, Devonshire and Bonds. I worshipped these players.

Brooking was brilliant. His touch, passing, vision, temperament all excellent. Plus he scored goals.

Also he was a gent. Always signed autographs for everyone after the games. Always had time. Always pleasant and cheery.

Re: Sir Trevor Brooking
The fact he stayed with us following relegation and risked his international career is enough to make him a legend. His skill, poise, balance and passing were all immaculate. A GREAT man and true gentleman. I've got his book on my Xmas stocking list (The Bobby book is for my birthday next month).

Gutted would have loved to have met him. He's all that's good about west ham. Is he doing anymore?

Re: Sir Trevor Brooking
I met him today and had a brief chat.

What a top man he really is, had time for everyone, asking where they were from and talking about family.

I bought his book and had him sign it for my 15 year old son.

Re: Sir Trevor Brooking
He almost went to Spurs but Bill Nicholson, who I rate as a manager, was coming up to retirement and Brooking wasn't sure about his replacement, so decided not to go, also, Clough put in a bid for both Moore and Brooking but he really wanted Moore

Re: Sir Trevor Brooking
I don't suppose Sir Trev has any regrets and I'm certainly glad he never moved away but if TB had ever played for a really big side I reckon he would be regarded as one of the best players ever to play the game (which he is in my book anyway).

The Master, his Skill balance and passing ability second to none in my book.

Re: Sir Trevor Brooking
I remember his debut as an out and out striker, wasn't too successful until he moved to midfield magician

Re: Sir Trevor Brooking
I was fortunate enough to see his last 11 years at the club and is my favourite Hammer without a doubt. Bonzo is a very close second.
